এ ব্যাখ্যা রাসূলের হাদিস দ্বারাও সমর্থিত। রাসূলুল্লাহ সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম বলেন, আমি যদি আল্লাহ ব্যতীত কাউকে সেজদা করার নির্দেশ দিতাম, তবে নারীদের আদেশ করতাম স্বামীদের সেজদার করার জন্য। সে আল্লাহর শপথ করে বলছি, যার হাতে আমার জীবন, নারী তার স্বামীর সব হক আদায় করা ব্যতীত, আল্লাহর হক আদায়কারী হিসেবে গণ্য হবে না। এমনকি স্বামী যদি তাকে বাচ্চা প্রসবস্থান থেকে তলব করে, সে তাকে নিষেধ করবে না।
সুতরাং পুণ্যবতী নারীরা অনুগত, তারা লোকচক্ষুর অন্তরালে হিফাযতকারীনী ঐ বিষয়ের যা আল্লাহ হিফাজত করেছেন।
ইমাম ইবনে তাইমিয়্যাহ এ আয়াতের তাফসিরে বলেন, 'সুতরাং নেককার নারী সে, যে আনুগত্যশীল। অর্থাৎ যে নারী সর্বদা স্বামীর আনুগত্য করে... নারীর জন্য আল্লাহ এবং তার রাসূলের হকের পর স্বামীর হকের মত অবশ্য কর্তব্য কোন হক নেই।
